The Lititz Christian Eagles managed to keep up with the Lancaster County Christian Lions until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Lititz Christian's rough 60-34 loss to Lancaster County Christian might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lititz Christian in their matchups with Lancaster County Christian: they've now lost eight in a row.
Lititz Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jack Kriebel, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Kriebel continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Eddie Vega, who scored five points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lancaster County Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hendrik Beelen, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beelen has scored all season. Logan Esbenshade was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Lititz Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Lancaster County Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lititz Christian will take on Harrisburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Harrisburg Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Lancaster County Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Dayspring Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
