The Wolfe County Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Knott County Central Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wolfe County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups.
Even though Estill County scored an imposing 80 points on Tuesday, Wolfe County still came out on top. Wolfe County walked away with an 87-80 win over the Engineers.
Wolfe County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Caleb Creech, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds, and Corey Flinchum, who scored 26 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Creech is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Robinson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Knott County Central waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Harlan by a score of 63-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Wolfe County now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Knott County Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Wolfe County was taken down by the Patriots 85-54 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Wolfe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
