Prestonwood Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Parish Episcopal Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prestonwood Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 290 points over their last five games.
Prestonwood Christian put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They really took it to Bishop Lynch for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-21 victory at home. Given Prestonwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Bishop Lynch is ranked 638th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Prestonwood Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caiden Collins out in front who rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Collins hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Campbell Panetti made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Parish Episcopal had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past Trinity Christian 56-28 at home. Parish Episcopal pushed the score to 49-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Trinity Christian cut but never quite recovered from.
Parish Episcopal can attribute much of their success to Sawyer Anderson, who threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and Maddux Reid, who rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. Reid's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Pile, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Prestonwood Christian's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Bishop Lynch, Nolan Catholic, and Bishop Dunne. As for Parish Episcopal, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Prestonwood Christian and Parish Episcopal haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Prestonwood Christian commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Parish Episcopal struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Prestonwood Christian suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to Parish Episcopal when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Prestonwood Christian, Cedric Mays (who picked up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
