The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Matoaca Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. L.C. Bird will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Matoaca is ranked 34th).
L.C. Bird's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Midlothian by a score of 20-10.
L.C. Bird can attribute much of their success to La'Tavion Lowe, who rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Lowe was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Sha?heym Dugger did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Matoaca's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-28 walloping at the hands of Dinwiddie. Matoaca has not had much luck with Dinwiddie recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Matoaca's defeat came about despite a quality game from Montino Williams jr, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
L.C. Bird's win bumped their season record to 6-4 while Matoaca's defeat dropped theirs to 7-3.
