The Lakeside Knights struggled with assists on Tuesday (the St. John's/Tipton Catholic Blujays had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lakeside was outmatched by St. John's/Tipton Catholic at home and fell 79-48. Lakeside has not had much luck with St. John's/Tipton Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lakeside still got an impressive performance from Jace Cunningham, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Cunningham has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Remus, who scored nine points.
St. John's/Tipton Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Edward Horinek, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Horinek hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyson Gates, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Lakeside has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Lakeside will head out on the road to challenge Southern Cloud co-op [Miltonvale/Glasco] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Southern Cloud co-op [Miltonvale/Glasco] focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stockton at 7:30 p.m. St. John's/Tipton Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
