The Grassfield Grizzlies will take on the Western Branch Bruins at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grassfield came out on top against King's Fork on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The victory was familiar territory for the Grizzlies, who have now won seven matchups in a row.

Joel Flynn looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
At the plate, BJ McIntyre was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Roach, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Grassfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.
Meanwhile, Western Branch got themselves on the board against Indian River on Tuesday, but Indian River never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won nine in a row.
The result came thanks to Ian Taylor's shutout, as he gave up just four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Logan Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Wilson Tone was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Grassfield's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Western Branch, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grassfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Western Branch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Grassfield couldn't quite get it done against Western Branch in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Will the Grizzlies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
