The North Clayton Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Fayette County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Clayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Fayette County is ranked 66th).
Last Tuesday, North Clayton ended up a good deal behind Starr's Mill and lost 61-43. North Clayton has struggled against Starr's Mill recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from VICTORIA Johnson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Dudley, who scored six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Fayette County came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 67-46 margin over Troup County. Fayette County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.
North Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Fayette County, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
North Clayton lost to Fayette County on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can North Clayton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
