The Elkhorn South Storm will venture away from home to face off against the Bellevue West Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Elkhorn South took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Creighton Prep. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Junior Jays recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Brody Jindra was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Jindra was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Jayden Ish was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Brooks Berliner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bellevue West sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Norris on Friday.
Like Elkhorn South, Bellevue West also got a great game from a two-way player: Drew Grego. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Grego has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Bellevue West got a great performance from Brayden Woodard as he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest hits Woodard has allowed since back in March of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Zack Pinneo, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
Elkhorn South beat Bellevue West 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Does Elkhorn South have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bellevue West turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
