The West Point Dragons fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat North Canyon 40-6 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-6.
Leading West Point to victory were Isaiah Smith and Anthony Lopes. Smith rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown, while Lopes rushed for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
West Point's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 12 times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
West Point's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for North Canyon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
West Point will look to defend their home field on Friday against Paradise Valley at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Paradise Valley is ranked 127th, while West Point is ranked 134th). As for North Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cibola comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
