Alexander kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 22-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marshall Rams.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jose Fernandez Iii, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Julius Vaughn also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.
Even though they lost, Alexander was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 441 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Alexander wouldn't let Marshall keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Alexander can thank Luis Quintero and Hector Benavides for forcing both of them. Quintero's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making 11 total tackles. Another thorn in Marshall's side was Frankie J. Fuentes, who picked up a sack and made 20 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Jalen Glover was nothing short of spectacular for Marshall: he rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.4 yards per carry. Glover's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander will head out to square off against Gregory-Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they will venture away from home to face off against Flour Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
