The Elkin Buckin' Elks fell victim to the Mount Airy Granite Bears''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 63-0 loss at the hands of the Granite Bears. Elkin has struggled against Mount Airy recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Tyler Mason continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mount Airy, rushing for 200 yards and five touchdowns on only five carries. Mason's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Taeshon Martin also helped out as he racked up 117 rushing yards.
Elkin's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.8 points per game. As for Mount Airy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkin will square off against Starmount at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Starmount knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Elkin likes a good challenge. As for Mount Airy, they will head out on the road to face off against Alleghany at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Alleghany is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
