Tristan Tate's Big Game Leads Shelby over Bessemer City
Starting off the list is Shelby's Tristan Tate, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Tate rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. He has been hot , having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
Tate is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against East Gaston on Thursday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Tate saw the Warriors), he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.

Elijah Goodson was instrumental in extending Burns's winning streak to five on Friday. Goodson turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 62 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
For the year, Goodson has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 63 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 13.88 rushing yards per game.

Nick Norris posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss). He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 69 yards.
If history really does repeat itself, Norris might just drop another big game when he faces off against East Gaston on Thursday. Norris picked up a sack and made 18 total tackles the last time he and the Warriors duked it out back in October of 2023.

Mcgowan Made His Presence Known in Burns' 49-20 Victory
The second Burns player making an appearance here is Marshall Mcgowan, and for good reason. He rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 110 yards and a touchdown.
On the season, Mcgowan has thrown 7 touchdowns while averaging 103.9 passing yards per game.

Jackson Heavner Rounds Out Top Five
Rounding off our Top Five is Jackson Heavner of Cherryville. Heavner picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards.
Cherryville's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. Heavner and Cherryville will venture away from home to challenge Burns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
