Madison hasn't had much luck against Lisbon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m.
Madison came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Mount Abram, falling 9-1.
Madison got a good showing from Jonathan Prosser, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Prosser a new career-low.
Meanwhile, Lisbon owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against Winthrop as they made off with an 8-0 win. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Cody Osmond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Osmond wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cyrus Tefft, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Another was JT Hoyle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Lisbon pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Madison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lisbon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Madison came up short against Lisbon in their previous matchup back in April, falling 7-3. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
