It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ursuline Fighting Irish had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past Canfield 16-13. Ursuline's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Christian Lynch was his usual excellent self, rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Lynch is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Devonte Taylor did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 93 receiving yards.
Ursuline pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.55 points. As for Canfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Ursuline will face off against Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last four matchups. Canfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
