Southeast and Lingle-Fort Laramie are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Southeast Cyclones will square off against the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Southeast came up short against Non Varsity Opponent and fell 69-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), the Cyclones still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Southeast got top-tier performance from Ayden Desmond, who went 11-for-17 en route to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Desmond has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Beaux Shimic, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 16 points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. This was only their third loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, Lingle-Fort Laramie put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Kaycee 63-17. Given the Doggers' advantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh in Wyoming, while the Buckaroos are ranked 62nd in Wyoming), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lingle-Fort Laramie's win came from a few key players Southeast will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brody Roberts, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 16 points. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Brady Cook was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 10 points and three blocks.
Southeast has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. Lingle-Fort Laramie's win bumped their record up to 23-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southeast has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Lingle-Fort Laramie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southeast came up short against Lingle-Fort Laramie when the teams last played back in January, falling 65-53. Can Southeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
