They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Lancers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lightning have posted against the Lancers since May 13, 2019.
Jack Poellot and Braden Theis made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Poellot tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Theis struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Poellot has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Poellot went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Theis went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Theis has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, David Nehls was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Gabe Snyder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Lake Country Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive matches.
St. Francis' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lake Country Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
