Centennial extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 25-7 to the St. Paul/Palmer Wildcats. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 9-5 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Centennial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Robinson has got this season.
As for St. Paul/Palmer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4. That 18-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On St. Paul/Palmer's side, Zandyn Weller and Christian Lemburg made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Weller tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Lemburg struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Weller has become a key player for St. Paul/Palmer: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. At the plate, Weller got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI, while Lemburg went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Weller is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, Braxton Heater was excellent, going 3-for-7 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Lentz, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Centennial will square off against rival Twin River at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Paul/Palmer is set to face off against their familiar foe Central City/Centura at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
