The Corner Canyon Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the Lone Peak Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Corner Canyon put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Weber with a sharp 21-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Carson Paulsen spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit.

At the plate, Drew Whatcott was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Lincoln Eure was another key player, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4.
Whatcott wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Corner Canyon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. Corner Canyon is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
While Lone Peak didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Copper Hills on Wednesday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Braden Packer and Bowen Barnes did most of the damage at the plate: Packer went 3-for-4 with five RBI, while Barnes scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Barnes snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Ladd, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Corner Canyon's record now sits at 5-3. As for Lone Peak, their record is now 4-1.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Corner Canyon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Lone Peak struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Corner Canyon's way against Lone Peak in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Corner Canyon made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corner Canyon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
