TUCSON, Ariz. - After three lead changes,
Williams Field (Gilbert, Ariz.) took the lead for the win when
Cliff Weybrecht ran for a touchdown with 4:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.) 29-26 on Saturday.
After nabbing the lead on a
Jordan Closs-Lopez touchdown run, the Dorados went into halftime with a 13-0 lead. The Black Hawks took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Weybrecht in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 14 points in the third, Williams Field still trailed by six points going into the fourth quarter. But 15 points in the fourth helped WF pull out the victory.
The Gilbert school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 27-23.
The loss comes after Canyon del Oro defeated Higley 34-31 last week.
