They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over Genesis Prep Academy on Friday. St. Maries' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. Maries' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sami Sindt led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Danika Sloper, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
St. Maries' win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Genesis Prep Academy, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3.
St. Maries will be home for the holidays to greet Potlatch at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Potlatch is ranked 111th, while St. Maries is ranked 121st). As for Genesis Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Wallace at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
