Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Payne Tech

Payne Tech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Bard Raptors 9-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Makayla Pittman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Marisela Sanabria was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mendez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Payne Tech hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Payne Tech's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Bard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
