Columbia barely beat Wellington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders put the hurt on the Dukes with a sharp 17-5 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won five games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Sadie Schulke was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Schulke was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Alina Jones looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Grace Anderson and Kenzie Shackelton did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI, while Shackelton scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Kaitlyn Miller was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.
Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellington only posted an OBP of .364.
The win made it two in a row for Columbia and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Wellington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
