The Washington County Commanders proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 27) but on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 win over Caverna. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Washington County.
Caverna's loss came despite strong showings from Tyson Martin and Jaylin Craine. Martin scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Craine dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Martin hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Russ Williams was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Washington County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Caverna, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington County will take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Caverna, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Scotties at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Glasgow is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
