Softball Recap: Haywood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lake County two weeks ago, Haywood came back down to earth. Haywood lost 12-6 to the Fayette Academy Vikings on Thursday.

Haywood saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Scott, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Scott has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Karly Young was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Haywood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Haywood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Fayette Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Haywood will face off against Lake County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Haywood's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lake County has averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Fayette Academy, they will be playing at home against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
