Baseball Recap: St. Edward's Has No Trouble Against Calvary Chapel Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Master's Academy, St. Edward was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles 13-3. Considering the Pirates have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reid Morris and Graham Hutton made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Morris pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hutton pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those zero hits allowed gave Morris a new career-low. At bat, Morris scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hutton scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Morris has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Caden Freedman and Cooper Harp did most of the damage at the plate: Freedman scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Harp scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Freedman also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cyprian McIntosh, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, St. Edward's will be playing at home against Berean Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Edward's pitchers better be ready for this one: Berean Christian has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Tradition Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
