The Bennett Clippers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pocomoke. Bennett has not had much luck with Pocomoke recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pocomoke to victory, but perhaps none more so than Donyae Washington, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 18 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Esham, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Bennett dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.2 points per game. As for Pocomoke, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Bennett will head out on the road to take on Wicomico at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Wicomico's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 14 games. As for Pocomoke, they will be playing at home against Snow Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
