The Shawnee Renegades will take on the Millville Thunderbolts at TBD on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Shawnee fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Middletown South with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21.
Shawnee had a senior duo take command as Joe Papa rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry and Nick Rusinski rushed for 60 yards and three touchdowns. Liam Gilmore did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Millville had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They blew past Northern Burlington 49-7 at home. Considering Millville has won six matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Shawnee's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Millville, their victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Shawnee suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to Millville when the teams last played back in October. Can Shawnee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
