Baseball Recap: Mission Heights Prep Has No Trouble Against Imagine Prep

Mission Heights Prep barely beat Imagine Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Phantoms blew past the Storm 13-3 on Friday. The Phantoms might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Kamden Muffler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mission Heights Prep got a massive performance out of Cameron Mata, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Mata has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Kemp, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mission Heights Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mission Heights Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Imagine Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5-1.

Coming up, Mission Heights Prep will be playing at home against East Valley Athletes for Christ at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Imagine Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Heritage Academy Gateway at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
