Even though the North Duplin Rebels have not done well against the East Duplin Panthers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. North Duplin strolled past East Duplin with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. For North Duplin, this counts as revenge for the 91-52 loss East Duplin walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.
North Duplin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dujuan Armwood out in front who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Treshawn Ruffin was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why East Duplin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Calvin Harper. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Ball, who scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds.
The win got North Duplin back to even at 1-1. As for East Duplin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Duplin will stay at home for another game and welcome Jones at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Jones knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully North Duplin likes a good challenge. As for East Duplin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rosewood at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Rosewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
