The Pascagoula Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Moss Point Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pascagoula will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
Last Tuesday, Pascagoula didn't have too much trouble with the Maroon Tide on the road as they won 67-48. Given Pascagoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Maroon Tide are ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moss Point aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Monday extended their overall winning streak to three. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Greene County. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Moss Point's was.
Moss Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jujuan Nettles led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quey'sean Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Pascagoula's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Moss Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Pascagoula couldn't quite finish off the Tigers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 55-53. Thankfully for Pascagoula, Kedrick Osby (who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
