The Owen Valley Patriots lost against the Clay City Eels back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Owen Valley received a tough blow as they fell 59-41 to Clay City. Owen Valley has struggled against Clay City recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Owen Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Ross, who scored ten points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrek Atkinson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Owen Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Clay City, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Owen Valley will head out on the road to challenge Linton-Stockton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clay City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Terre Haute North Vigo at 7:30 p.m. Terre Haute North Vigo is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
