The McLaughlin Phoenix gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Roosevelt Academy 50-12 at home. That's another feather in the cap for McLaughlin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Roosevelt Academy saw an underclassman step up: Xavier Vazquez scored 10 points.
McLaughlin's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Roosevelt Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLaughlin will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roosevelt Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th. As for Roosevelt Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Candlelight Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
