King/Drew hasn't had much luck against Port of Los Angeles recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Golden Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Polar Bears at 2:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
King/Drew saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Sylmar.

Jordan Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michelle Shaw, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Walker, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
King/Drew always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port of Los Angeles). They never let Dorsey get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Thursday. The Polar Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.
Isabella Cardona made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Cardona was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Rochelle Watkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Shyanne Ruan also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Port of Los Angeles has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for King/Drew, their record now sits at 5-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King/Drew has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Port of Los Angeles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
King/Drew might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Port of Los Angeles when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
