The Osborn Knights will face off against the Ferndale Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Osborn will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Denby on Tuesday. The Knights blew past the Tars 11-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Knights' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Meanwhile, Ferndale never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over Oak Park. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.
Matthew Trumpy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Taylor Williams was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Isiah Harris was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles.
Ferndale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Ferndale's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Osborn, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Osborn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Ferndale struggles in that department as they've averaged .583. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
