The Glenvar Highlanders were the 70-57 winner over the Blacksburg Bruins when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Glenvar received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 68-49 to Blacksburg. Glenvar has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Dawyot, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. Adam Franklin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Glenvar now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Blacksburg, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenvar has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Salem at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th. Blacksburg will take on Floyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Floyd County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Blacksburg likes a good challenge.
