Spartanburg is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Bulldogs a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Spartanburg Vikings will take on the Boiling Springs Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Spartanburg came up short against the Indians and fell 53-45. Spartanburg has not had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Boiling Springs, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-23 loss to the Indians on Friday. While losing is never fun, Boiling Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Indians are ranked 29th).
Boiling Springs' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sarah Ezell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and Karina Tsisun who scored four points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Spartanburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Boiling Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
Spartanburg strolled past the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January by a score of 66-47. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ezell, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Spartanburg still be able to contain Ezell? There's only one way to find out.
