Basketball Recap: Godley Piles Up the Points Against Alvarado

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glen Rose, Godley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Alvarado Indians 56-13. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joslyn Jarmon, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 8 points and four steals. That was a full 61.5% of Alvarado's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayme Taylor, who had two points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Godley moved to 10-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Alvarado, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Godley and Alvarado should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Godley (ranked 95th) will meet Venus (ranked 858th) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Alvarado (ranked 503rd) will meet Life Waxahachie (ranked 1202nd) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
