Weddington is 9-1 against Cuthbertson since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Weddington Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Weddington has nine straight wins, Cuthbertson has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Weddington can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to Sun Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-40 victory on the road. Given Weddington's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Sun Valley is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant Hamilton and KJ Younger were among the main playmakers for Weddington as the former scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 25 points along with two steals. Younger hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. Jake Ford was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Cuthbertson lost to Porter Ridge at home by a decisive 66-49 margin on Tuesday. Cuthbertson has not had much luck with Porter Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Weddington's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Cuthbertson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.
Everything came up roses for Weddington against Cuthbertson in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 87-56 win. With Weddington ahead 47-22 at the half, the match was all but over already.
