The Boulder City Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Basic Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Boulder City needed a bit of extra time to put away Coronado. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 25th.
Tate Crine and Gavin Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Crine went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Robinson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and one run. That's the most doubles Robinson has posted since back in March of 2025. Cael Starley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boulder City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Basic faced Legacy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolves blew past the Longhorns 8-1. Considering the Wolves have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Basic also got a great performance from Noah Sebastian as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Troy Southisene was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Matthew Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Boulder City has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Basic, their record now sits at 15-8.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boulder City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Basic struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
