Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Northridge Academy's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Northridge Academy won the last time they faced Fulton, and Janelle Estrella did her part to make sure it happened again. The Northridge Academy Pumas blew past the Fulton Jaguars, posting a 66-6 victory thanks in part to Estrella, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those 30 points gave her a new career-high.

Jennalyn Gerona was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten rebounds and ten assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Northridge Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Fulton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northridge Academy will take on Sherman Oaks CES at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sherman Oaks CES is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Northridge Academy a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Fulton has already played their next game (against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
