Basketball Recap: Macon-East Montgomery Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Chambers Academy last Tuesday, Macon-East Montgomery Academy came back down to earth. The Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights took a hard 66-47 fall against the Abbeville Christian Academy Generals on Thursday. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 55-51 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Macon-East Montgomery Academy still got an impressive performance from Thaddeus McKinney, who went 5 of 6 en route to 13 points. Those 13 points gave McKinney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Johnson, who posted ten points.

Jayden Buckhannon was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 12 on his way to 21 points along with seven boards and three steals for Abbeville Christian Academy. Blake Cooper also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy will take on Springwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, they and Oaks will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
