North Pontotoc is a perfect 3-0 against Louisville since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in North Pontotoc's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
14 must be North Pontotoc's lucky number: they beat Tupelo with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Vikings beat the Golden Wave by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-2. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
North Pontotoc got a massive performance out of Kinsley Frazier, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacie Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Pontotoc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Louisville can now relate to. They lost 14-2 to the Vikings on Thursday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Louisville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaidah Dixon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
North Pontotoc pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Louisville, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Pontotoc hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Louisville struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Pontotoc took their win against Louisville in their previous matchup on Thursday by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
