The Wakefield Wolverines will face off against the Sanderson Spartans at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Wakefield will be strutting in after a  victory while Sanderson will be coming in after a  loss.
Wakefield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt East Wake Academy on Tuesday. Wakefield blew past East Wake Academy 7-1. The  contest marked the Wolverines' most dominant  win of the  season so far.

 Tyler Rotellini tossed a big game,   striking out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-high in  strikeouts.
 On the hitting side, Wakefield saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ben Dudash, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3. What's more,  Dudash posted two  RBI, the most he's  had since back in April of 2024.  Evan Genao was another,  going 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.
Meanwhile, Sanderson came up short against  Franklinton on Monday, falling  11-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  GAINES STALLWORTH made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3.
 Sanderson now  has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wakefield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wakefield has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 10.2  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sanderson struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 7.3  strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Wakefield took their  win against Sanderson  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2022 by a conclusive  13-2. Does  Wakefield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sanderson turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
