Rangeview scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Gateway, 25-24. At the time, the Olympians were ranked 12th in the state, while the Raiders were 68th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rangeview, who took down 12th ranked Gateway, 25-24. Darien Odegard threw for 213 yards and one touchdown and ran for 82 yards in the win.
John Ndekezi was the best wideout in 5A Aurora this week as Aurora Central bested Adams City. Ndekezi racked up six receptions for 120 yards. A'Deril Agnew helped Aurora Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 45 yards.
Jeffery Tootle was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 253 yards as the Trojans beat the Eagles. Agnew also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
David Gonzales' team's Odegard and Areleous Hughes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Odegard has thrown for 935 yards this season, while Hughes, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 17 catches for 336 yards. Tootle from Aurora Central leads the league in rushing with 909 yards.
Taylor Calvert's team's Tootle needs only 91 yards against Denver East next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 5A Aurora this week will be when Justin Hoffman's team takes on Hinkley. At the moment, the Olympians are in first, while the Thunderbirds are in fifth.
The Angels' Davon McCuien recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Hinkley last week. McCuien's team beat Joe McKain's team as he sprinted for 78 yards on the play and finished with 78 in all.
