Leading Hillside to victory were Sa?nya Horton and Samiyah Barker. Horton scored 19 points along with three steals, while Barker scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Horton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Malone, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
East Chapel Hill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abigail Stone, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Lauren Steiner was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
East Chapel Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hillside racked up 15 assists.
Hillside is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for East Chapel Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.
Hillside will head out on the road to square off against Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapel Hill is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Hillside a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. East Chapel Hill will take on Riverside-Durham at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
