The Conneaut Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They fell 60-48 to St. John. Conneaut was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. John apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Kayla Farley and Alexis Kiser certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Farley dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Kiser scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Alexis Warner, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mickey Zheng, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zheng has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of alyssa cevera, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Conneaut's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for St. John, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut will stay at home for another game and welcome Lakeside at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Conneaut is facing Lakeside at the right time seeing as Lakeside is stuck on a 11-game losing streak. As for St. John, they will be playing at home against Bristol at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 242 points over their last four contests.
