The Munster Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Illiana Christian 65-42. The victory was just what Munster needed coming off of a 53-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
Munster found their leader in underclassman Gracyn Gilliard, who dropped a triple-double on 29 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Gilliard has scored at least 25% of Munster's points. Another player making a difference was Nina Garner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Illiana Christian had strong showings from Cheyenne DeJong, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, and Abbie Ritzema, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Ritzema's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Illiana Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Munster will head out on the road to face off against Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hanover Central will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Illiana Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Boone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Boone Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
