Crest waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 72-63 win over the Kings Mountain Mountaineers. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omari Faulkner, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance gave Faulkner a new career-high in points. D'Various Surratt was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches.

Ethan Daniel and Xavier Hutchens certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Daniel went 5-for-9 on his way to 15 points, while Hutchens posted nine points along with six boards and three steals. KJ Bell also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Crest pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Kings Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Coming up, Crest will square off against Huss on Tuesday. Crest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Huss likes a good challenge. As for Kings Mountain, they will face off against Ashbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashbrook is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.3 points per game this season.
