The Astoria/VIT Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 59-36 defeat at the hands of Camp Point Central. Astoria/VIT lost against Camp Point Central in their previous head to head back in January of 2015, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-45 score last time.
TOMMI GORSUCH and HANNAH HORWEDEL certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. GORSUCH scored nine points along with four steals, while HORWEDEL scored nine points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of KATE STAMBAUGH, who scored 13 points.
Astoria/VIT has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Camp Point Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Peoria Heights at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Camp Point Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Burlington on January 22nd.
