The Camp Point Central Panthers will head out to square off against the Brown County Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Camp Point Central came out on top against Mendon Unity on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Panthers have won ten games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Stephens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Claire Huston, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Brown County not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 12-2). Everything went their way against Augusta Southeastern as they made off with a 16-8 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Suns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Jamie Loehr was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Lilly Ham was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Brown County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Camp Point Central's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Brown County, their record is now 6-18.
Camp Point Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Brown County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Camp Point Central continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Camp Point Central's way against Brown County in their previous meeting back in March, as Camp Point Central made off with an 18-6 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
